Biographical Note: The New Hope House is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support and hospitality to families of people on Georgia's death row, including lodging and transportation, among other services. The founders Ed Weir (1942-2017) and his wife Mary Ruth were human rights advocates, members of the Jubilee Community in North Georgia, where they worked with refugees and their integration in American society, before creating the New Hope House in 1989.
