Collection Dates: 1955 – 2005
Scope and Content Note: The Ray Moore Film Collection consists of interviews with Ty Cobb, Dr. Martin Luther King, Bobby Jones, Senator John McClellan and Robert Frost, documentaries I Walked Today and Center of Creation, an Olympic marketing video made for the IOC meeting in Puerto Rico, broadcast segments, and more.
Biographical Note:

Albert Raymond "Ray" Moore Jr. had a long and prestigious career in television news. Moore's father had an interest in an Ohio newspaper, and Moore's first news-related job was as a paperboy. He later became an editor. He served in the Army in World War II and then attended Columbia University on the GI Bill. Upon graduating, he worked as a radio announcer in Tennessee before moving to Atlanta to work for WSB radio in 1951. He soon moved to the affiliated television station, and by 1958 he was both anchor and news director. Moore worked at WSB for eighteen years, then moved to WAGA. He eventually returned to WSB to report the noon news, and continued to do special projects for the station after his retirement in 1992. Moore was inducted into the Georgia Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1995. Moore died on July 23, 2013, from complications from a fall.
