Collection Dates: 1948 – 1981
Scope and Content Note: Consists of over 5 million feet of newsfilm from WSB-TV, Atlanta, Georgia dating from 1948-1981. Contains edited and raw footage. No televised newscasts are included.
Biographical Note: On September 29, 1948 WSB-TV became the first television station in the South with call letters that stand for, "Welcome South, Brother" and is a partner with WSB radio which began broadcasting in 1922. No other Atlanta television stations saved their newsfilm from this time period, making this collection a unique historical resource. In addition, WSB was the largest television station in the region and routinely was able to provide more reporters taking more newsfilm than the other television stations based in Atlanta.

Provenance: News footage was donated to the University of Georgia by WSB in 1985 and became part of the Walter J. Brown Media Archive in 1997.
