Though the song may have died the concept lingers on in the youth oriented society of the Western world. / A recent survey conducted in the US showed that young people see the elderly as lonely, inactive, dirty, ugly, sick and senile. Perhaps this is an inevitable consequence of a society which segregates its old people. Are there better ways? Do the developing countries hold answers for the West? What are we doing about the elderly, and what should we be doing?
