James Baird Tipton (1915-1995) was born in Senath, Missouri and attended the University of Alabama on a football scholarship, graduating in 1938. He was a fighter pilot and commander during World War II and the Korean War and rose to the rank of Major General over a long career in the US (Army) Air Force.
Ann Livingston Little (1914-2004) was born in Rochester, New York and served in the Red Cross during World War II, where she met then Colonel James Tipton. They were married in 1945 and had 2 children, Catharine and Alice.
