Collection Dates: 1982 – 2005
Scope and Content Note: Includes recordings of several debates.
Biographical Note: The Demosthenian Literary Society was formed in 1803 by the first graduating class of the Franklin College, making it the oldest student organization at the University of Georgia. Demosthenian's rival debate organization, the Phi Kappa Literary Society formed in 1820. Both societies are still active on campus and engage in a lively inter-society debate annually.
