Biographical Note: James Henry Massey, Sr. (1922-1995) was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated from the University of Georgia with bachelor's and master's degrees in Poultry Science. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp in World War II, receiving a Battle Star for the Battle of Okinawa, and the Korean War, then retired in 1975 at the rank of Colonel after 33 years of service. Mr. Massey also worked for the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service for 33 years, serving as Head of the Extension Poultry Science Department, District Agent Chairman, and District Agent of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
