Scope and Content Note: Folk music recorded and/or performed by Art Rosenbaum
Biographical Note: Art Rosenbaum (1938-2022), was an artist and musician. He was a member of Georgia Folklore Society and contributed to the collection and preservation of American folk music. He earned his AB in Art History and his MFA in Painting at Columbia University. He was the first Wheatley Professor in Fine Arts at the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. He and his wife, the photographer Margo Newmark Rosenbaum, authored the book Shout Because You're Free about the McIntosh County Shouters. Art contributed to the life and culture of the University and the Athens community in innumerable ways. His mural "Doors" may be seen in the Russell Gallery of the UGA Special Collections Libraries.
