Collection Dates: 1984 – 1997
Biographical Note: Jan Cox, an authority on fifteenth and sixteenth century Eastern philosophy, has gained considerable attention in the intellectual and popular communities with his application of these views to modern psychological techniques. His basic theme, espoused in Magnus Machina (1971), is that "civilization as a whole will only evolve through the concentrated, personal efforts and struggles of individual men working to become more knowledgeable of themselves objectively, and thusly extend their everyday awareness, concern and compassion for their mortal brothers." He has published numerous articles and books and was an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Georgia in 1970.
